First of all, you can't beat the weather. I mean...if you're cold, throw on a jacket. It never gets too hot and will be the perfect temperature in September (September/October are the 'hot' season).
Second, there are tons of hotels wherever you turn and multiple things for your guests to do should they decide to come up for more than just your event.
Third, let's be honest...my real reason? It's my home town. I figured if I am going to essentially live in his home town...we're going to get married and have memories that link BOTH of us to my home town. I feel like this is a pretty fair trade. (Besides...home prices and the job market in Monterey aren't terribly favorable).
So where in Monterey?
The beach?
Can you just imagine this set up as an aisle for an evening wedding?
Those cliffs. Enough said.

This is just a small gathering of options. I wanted to get the biggest bang for my buck, but I also wanted a venue that would make my guests comfortable. We aren't having many guests attend, so I didn't want a venue that could hold 300 people and make it feel like no one showed up to our day! We want it to be warm and full of friends and family that truly know and love us. This will be a day of sharing, smiling, and loving!
Monterey is such an amazing place (that I appreciate much more now that I'm older than I did when I was in high school). Getting married here is going to make our day special and bring our families together. Honestly...I'd get married right under this walk way if there weren't...ya know...a million tourists trying to cross the street...

That would be so cool to get married in the middle of the street on Cannery Row! Haha. :)
ReplyDeleteI really didn't appreciate Monterey either, until I grew up a little...and got stationed in Nebraska!
That is part of the reason we got married in Monterey, too. We got married at the Naval Post Graduate school. Our ceremony was on the Quarterdeck (right where our SHS junior prom pictures were taken, haha), and our reception was in the grand ball room (on accident because the room we had reserved got flooded because it rained so much on our wedding day).
I really like the winery idea! There are some beautiful spots all through Salinas Valley, even Soledad!
