Those that weren't

Theme's that is. We girls constantly change our minds. Let's take a trip down memory lane through those ideas.

When I first started thinking about weddings I wanted to get married in a HUGE church with hundreds of people and...don't judge me, but I wanted little people surfing on the train of my dress....

See how long that train is? Now imagine adding about 4-6 little people, kids, small adults...doesn't matter. I don't know what I was thinking or why...but I thought that would have been cool.

Another thing I thought I wanted was to marry a man in a kilt. I didn't think the heritage part mattered as much as it looking cool mattered to me. Plus I may or may not have had a SLIGHT thing for boys with tartan worthy accents.

Let me just say that traditions are very important and I do not intend to steal them just for their 'cool' factor. I'll either create my own or follow in the lines of one of our families.

Next I wanted everything that was popular...AT THAT SECOND.

First I wanted super fondant cake!

Not that there's anything wrong with fondant cakes, I just have a few personal gripes. Number one, life isn't perfect and the less perfect the cake looks, the better it tastes. I want whipped peaks and valleys of deliciously eccentric frosting. Number two, fondant tastes like crap and everyone peels it off anyway.

I wanted one of the most popular color schemes I've ever seen in my life...

Tiffany blue and brown. Why? Because it was soooo popular, I HAD to have it. It didn't matter that I didn't drool over Tiffany's jewelry, I had to be part of the 'in' crowd. OH PLEASE! Hurry and propose while I have a chance to be popular!!

Needless to say, I'm happy for our theme. It's....us. It's not me. He's minimal and modern, I'm bulky and something else (I'm sure).

I'm happy to be marrying my best friend while I wear a vintage dress followed by a modern reception dress. I'm happy to be marrying my best friend while he wears a gray suit fitted to perfection. I'm happy to be marrying my best friend followed by the consumption of a perfectly imperfect cake topped by completely different wedding cake toppers. Finally, I'm happy to be marrying my best friend in colors that I can look back and love for the rest of my life.

  1. This blog is awesome just because of the picture of my husband, Ewan McGregor. Yes, that is my hubba bubba shirtless in a kilt.

Yes, it's awesome because it's all about your stuff (even if you were wacked in the head..geez louise, girl!), but your awesome is over shadowed by the Hubba. I'm sorry, but there it is.
